With six years of planning, CrestonePeak Community Housing (CPCH) will begin construction on Living Wisdom Village — its affordable housing project for seniors. The mission for Living Wisdom Village is to develop housing within walking distance of downtown Crestone for an economically diverse population of people who are 55 and older, and who can live independently. Construction

will begin in early June and is scheduled to be completed by August 2025.

The board encountered multiple delays out of their control, including having to reengage architects and engineers. Initially, it was planning to work with IndieDwell. The board was forced to replan after IndieDwell’s closure in April 2023. CPCH has been working with general contractor Alcon Construction, who put the project out for bid in March 2024. Alcon Construction has worked closely with CPCH to reduce costs without sacrificing quality or sustainability, according to the

board. The Town of Crestone issued a building permit to CPCH and an agreement has been reached on matters related to water and sewer. The CPCH team thanked Mayor Benjamin

Byer and the Board of Trustees for prioritizing the resolution of these outstanding items. Alcon Construction will be engaging temporary skilled laborers to work on the project. See the ad in this issue of The Crestone Eagle for information.
